Norman Mackenzie
Director of Music and Fine Arts

Norman was called to Trinity Presbyterian Church in 1983. He serves as Director of Music and Fine Arts, and oversees a comprehensive program including seven singing and ringing choirs and two concert series. He also serves as Director of Choruses for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, inheriting and continuing the legacy of legendary conductor Robert Shaw, and maintains an active solo recital and guest conducting schedule each season. He holds degrees from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and Westminster Choir College.

 

Scott Morris
Assistant Organist and Children's Choir Director

Scott has served as the Assistant Organist since 2005 and has expanded his responsibilities this year to include directing two children's choirs. He also serves as Director of Choral Music for the Westminster Schools. Scott earned his Bachelor of Music degree from Jacksonville State University and his Master of Music degree from Georgia State University.

 

Phyllis Sommer
Hosanna Ringers and Cherub Choir Director

Phyllis has been the director of Trinity's Cherub Choir since 1998 and the director of Hosanna Ringers since 2007. She strives to provide a positive initial experience for 4- and 5-year-old choristers by using folk songs, singing games, and activities. Phyllis uses the Kodaly philosophy, a pedagogical method that emphasizes fine singing and musical literacy.

Phyllis has 14 years of experience teaching elementary music in both public and private schools in California, Ohio, and Georgia. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in voice performance and music education certification from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. She is also a member of Trinity's Chancel Choir.
